1. Breakdown
Due to various reasons, sufficient energy arc and heat are generated on the surface of ADSS cable, which makes the sheath of ADSS cable break down. The resulting breakdown usually has a melting edge of the perforation, often accompanied by the simultaneous burning of the spinning fibers, resulting in a sharp decline in the strength of the cable, to the moment the tension can not be maintained, resulting in cable breakdown. Breakdown is a kind of fault, which occurs shortly after installation.
2. Electric mark
The arc forms a radiation (electric tree) like carbonization channel on the surface of the sheath, which is called electro-tracing, then deepens continuously, cracks under the action of tension and exposes the spinning fibers, sometimes converting to breakdown mode. Trace is a fault that takes longer to occur after installation than in breakdown mode.
3. Corrosion
Because of the heat generated by the leakage current through the sheath, the polymer slowly loses its binding force and eventually fails. The surface is rough and the sheath is thinner. This phenomenon is called corrosion. Corrosion occurs slowly and is a normal phenomenon during the lifetime of optical cables.
